Default poor acceleration (fixed, for now)

when driving @ about 45+ mph and I let my foot off the gas the car slows down as if the brakes were dragging or if I had a clogged air filter and not getting enough air (which I don't). Is there a word for this such as surging, etc? I'm thinking my trans is finna go, FPR, or my coil packs.

Ok, let me get this straight. You're driving at 45 mph, you take your foot off the accelerator, your revs drop, and you start to slow down... Sounds normal to me...

I know the symptom, my Tahoe does that, but not my Bonnes.
It almost feels like the tranny is in a lower gear than it should be, or it'* not in overdrive, and you slow down quicker than the vehicle "should" at a coast.
I always thought it was poor aerodynamics on my Tahoe, or maybe additional drag from the transfer case or front differential. Never felt it on the cars, however.

Have you checked to make sure your emergency brakes are releasing/released all the way or that your rear brakes aren't adjusted too tight? Check the cables, they should be loose. Try to remove a rear drum, it should pull off with a little effort.

Sounds like the TCC might not be releasing. Does it stop doing it if you tap the brake?

No, it doesn't stop when I tap the brake, but when I tap the gas it jumps to normal, then I speed up and sometimes I'm back in the same situation. "skregal" is right on the money. Also when I roll to a stop, but not a complete stop then accelerate, the acceleration is poor as hell, like I have a trailer on the back.

I just changed the rear shoes and cylinders. (Dam rockauto shipping is great)

EDIT: Oh, it only gets like this when the car is hot (or have been running for at least 20 minutes). My OD works just fine and this symptom doesn't occur in OD.

When you go out next time, find a nice open road, and stay around 60 mph. From that point, manually downshift from OD to D...wait until you slow down some, then downshift again...then repeat. This will tell you if you are getting all the gears that you should. Do the opposite when you are accellerating, but don't wind it out...do it gradually...so we can see if you are getting the upshifts.

Yep, I'm getting all my gears, it doesn't jump out of OD or anything. So maybe I can kind of rule out a bad trans. I 'm going to check the fluid to see what it looks like. I swear today I thought I was driving a stick shift in 2nd gear accelerating from a stop light. What ever this problem is it'* killing my HP. When I get over 50 it drives fine unless I take my foot of the gas.

tranny fluid is a dark red color. I'll use some trans tune when it gets a lil warmer outside.

Well, if you got all the gears, then your issue is engine related...you may not be making enough power to overcome drivetrain losses. Either that, or TCC is locked all the time.
