not that I'm aware of, mechanic stated there was a leak and he just replaced the gaskets and then about a week later it started surging so I brought it back and they noticed it was leaking again and the MAP sensor was replaced. Now 1 day later this problem.

The oil should have been changed after the gaskets are done. This will remove any coolant that might have dripped in to the engine.

they now say the cam bearings are shot. did by chance the coolant wash the bearings and cause this? I know I can't prove they did anything wrong but they did not change the oil after changing the plenum. They also said they changed the plugs because they had coolant on them.

If the coolant got in to the oil the damage was already done. Try changing the oil again and see if it makes any difference. But a rebuild might be needed.

I went to change the oil and it looks like the mech shop(they ones who messed up) changed the oil AFTER I took it back to have them look at it and they told me the cam bearings were messed up. Now I don't have proof that they didn't change it after they replaced the plenum. Anywho we drained that oil and replaced and added ZMAX and after it started and warmed up the tapping went away. Been driving it for 3 days and now the check engine light comes on but still no tapping - except a slight noise when just started after cooling off.

Places like Autozone should be able to scan the CEL for a specific code.

It was just a broken vacuum hose. All ok so far. We are going to change the oil again next week and add another bottle of the ZMAX and hope it keeps going. Would like to get another couple of years out of it.
