Default Please HELP!!!!! problem. 4th belt since june.

My 93 SE keeps shredding belts. I have replaced the belt 4 times since the middle of June. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks.

how does your tensioner pulley look?

Does it wobble? is it stiff?

The first thing to suspect is a bad pulley or tensioner.

Since your belt is already off, you should check each pulley as mentioned above, for noticeable differences.

It'* very likely a tensioner pulley or possibly the tensioner itself.

Have you noticed any odd noises coming from that side of the engine while running?

Does the pulley your mentioning look like this?

What you really need to determine is if the squealing is due to a loose/bad tensioner, or from the tensioner pulley bearings themselves. That'* why we suggest you turn that pulley by hand to see.
