Reusing UIM gaskets
I am looking at having my ported and polished LIM installed in the next little while. I have a set of new style GM gaskets for the LIM (89017816). I just had an APN UIM installed just a few months ago. Not having been there for the install, let alone doing it myself, I am wondering if the UIM gaskets would be reusable or not. As they run about $100 up here, if I can use them with NO risk, I will reuse them. If this is a plain stupid idea, then I will just get new ones.
I appreciate your input!

In this particular case, you're wrong again. There are some conditions where you WOULD use RTV. Aluminum (especially in former DEX and current salty winters) corrodes and pits.
It'* a good idea to apply a skim coat of RTV to these areas if necessary. Especially around the water outlet before the thermostat is reinstalled, but sometimes just the same around the coolant ports in the top of the LIM before placing the UIM gasket.
