Default plastics in dashboard

I own and love a 1995 Bonneville. The plastic face plate around the gauges has turned into a gooy mess. It'* tacky sticky. The rest of the plastic is fine. Anyone know anything about this or have you had a similiar problem.

When you say plastic around the gauges..do you mean above, below or the clear that is over the gauges. (I'm hitting a junkyard this weekend if you need parts.)

I've seen the plastic dash trim on other cars got to pot. Some get gooey (like I think he'* describing) some "rust" (where you scrape the surface off with a fingernail)...

Only fix I've ever found is to replace them. No idea what causes it.

Mine has a haze right over the gas guage on the clear plastic. Feels like something dried on, but nothing will take it off. Dunno. I'm in the same boat with you.
