Ok here are a couple of pictures of the Bosch Plugs.

So here is your standard Bosch:

Here is your Bosch on Supercharger Drugs (ground electrode bent for visibility)

Any Questions?

I've seen that evidence in too many cars, including my own previous vehicles. I've never put them in my Bonneville because of that. But my Bosch O2 was WORSE.

I wrote some other comments in your other topic.....which I'm locking with a link to here for further comment. Need to keep all that together in one place.

So what'* the story on the pinging/knocking? Better now?

Will, to be honest I haven't been out of the house all day. I usually evaluate any change for at least a few days before I conclude that anything has improved. The car pings at certain locations on my drive home from work. I'll let you know after I make a few normal driving runs.

Are the more completely eroded plugs from the rear bank by any chance? Do you remember?

ok, i forget how many miles we should do on a set of plugs, so I thought while I had the car in pieces to do the Throttle Body clean, I would change the plugs as well.

Well, I put AC Delco Rapidfire plugs in at 101K miles. Since then, about 90% of this cars driving has been 70Mph+ highway driving (I do a lot of miles). Well, I pulled these plugs today after 41K miles. I wish I had taken a photo - they were still perfect except for one, which was a bit blacker, but still ok. I am really happy with the AC Delco Rapidfires and thats all I am gonna buy from here on out.

Willwren, why did you ask about the back plugs? Is there a reason why one of the back plugs would be black?

With the electrode erosion I saw in the bad bosch photo, I'd expect it to happen in the rear bank first. The engine is alot hotter back there because of the crossover and firewall.

If you remove your lower intake sometime, you'll know what I mean. After about 50-75k miles, you can see a color difference inside the engine when comparing front to rear.

9 times out of 10, if a plug or plug wire fails, it'* one of the rear. Heat is a big contributor.

Some bad plugs were in the front, some in the rear. The inside of the valve covers were quite different, because of the heat diff.

Ok after a few days of driving, I can tell you that I still have the same pinging problem.

Could this be the O2 sensor? It'* been in there at least 40k, probably more.

I am getting an Actron cp9110. How can I use it to help me find the cause of the pinging?

Thanks

Mobil 93. Hey by the way the Mobil station here had a sale this weekend, all gas was 6 cents off so I filled her up. Still was $2.11 I think.
