How do you read those scanners that let you know everything that is going on? I was looking at the maf numbers and it was reading 4.8 at idle and it had a suggested value of 4 at idle. The guy who runs our repair garage had one and he let me play around with it. I didnt know what i was looking at or what i was looking for. Soooooo many more options then the orange scanner im use to using. Is it something specific im looking for with this high tech scanner that can help me track down this problem even more? I had a air fuel ratio of 14.1 if this helps any.

99% sure no scanner is going to help you solve this one.

The FSM doesn't involve the scanner in the diagnosis and correction for anything but clearing the code.

Did you ever try putting the MAF screen back in?

Well low and behold when I put the screen back in a day later the CEL goes off along with that pesky traction light. . thats weird. I have the screen off for three months with no problem and now it wants to come on.. :? . Im thinking that if you have a intake leak some place else and the screen is off you will get a CEL but if your are air tight then the screen off will now affect you.
