oil pressure gauge drops and stalled.
hi,
After driving highway, whenever I reach the stop sign at the ramp, I notice that the oil pressure gauge drops so bad and sometimes, my car is stalled with 'check gauge light'.
Mechanic said the actual oil pressure is ok, and I need to change the pressure sensor.
Is it right?. the other mechanic said oil pressure sensor is nothing to do with the car stalled.
As always, Need your help
Thanks.

Yup, Mine'* been telling me I have no oil, no oil pressure and shutting off for a while now. I installed an aftermarket pressure guage to really tell me what'* going on. Bad sensors or bad wiring.
Depends what the actual oil pressure is in the engine.
I have an aftermarket guage showing me the real pressure, I suggest you do the same. Your oil pressure may actually be low, and you're wearing out your enginge at an accelerated rate. Or your sensor/wiring is bad and the engine is fine.

Change the oil pressure SENSOR, not the gauge. You can't replace the gauge by itself, the whole cluster is one piece.
The faulty oil pressure reading is not the cause of your stalling. Use the procedure in Techinfo for extracting PCM codes. You have a 93, and can use the 'flash' feature. If you don't come up with any codes, clean and lubricate your IAC valve and clean your Throttle body.
You need to buy Chilton'* #28200 before attempting either of these procedures. With that manual, it'* easy.

You don't need to change the guage...
Page 6E3-A-32 of the 93 FSM:
It looks to me like the PCM turns on the fuel pump, then the Oil pressure sensor keeps the pump on, Until pressure is lower than some setting the factory decided on.
Hence, you simply need to change your Oil pressure sender. This should fix everything you describe. Use the Chilton'* manual Willwren noted, This should be very easy, and take you no longer than an hour.

Good find, Straitor. I'll confirm that. You know the sender is bad, so change that. If nothing else, it'll make the gauge read correctly (since your mechanic verified a good pressure). It will likely fix your stalling too, but keep in mind that there could STILL be another cause for the stall. We KNOW you have one problem for sure, so fix that first.
I'd still like you to check for codes using this:
