Default Oil Leak

There is an oil leak under the filter of my car. I havent changed the filter since the last time i bought the car and i don't know for a fact if the leak is coming from there. Is it possible for the oil to leak from the filter?

Is your leak major or just drops? Is your oil pressure at a high PSI such as 100-120? My oil pressure was pegged at 120psi for about 3 weeks then the sending unit popped and spewed oil everywhere. It was a noticable stream that came from above the passenger side axle. You may want to check that. Otherwise it is possible to have a filter leak some. Check to see if you can tighten it or if it'* loose. Report back to let us know what you find. If there is anything else to add I am sure a resident gearhead will step in.

An oil leak near the filter requires quick attention. I've seen bearings lost because of a speck of dirt on the filter seal.
