Well i dont know if anyone remembers but i about a month ago had my head gasket blow after just having a new engine/tranny put in. I was under the impression that the shop caused it and i still am but after a bunch of talks we agreed that they would replace the parts that broke but not fix the head gasket, so im up there looking and of course i ask if they drained the oil and they said no..... I ran to check and sure as **** the oil is still there sorta milky lookin and the coolant is darker than usual. Everything ive heard about this leads me to believe im gonna have a crap engine when i get it home, its been sitting there for about 3 weeks to a month... Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

that sounds like a pretty lousy deal to me... they cause it to break, but refuse to replace the bad gasket?

anyhew, i would go and talk to them about it immediately... coolant is not your bearing'* friend.

Well the mechanic today said that since the engine only ran for about 10-15 minutes he thinks with the blown head gasket that with the oil sitting in there for 3 weeks shouldnt matter too much since the engine didnt run and get alot down in there. Anyone have any thoughts on this, i thought that if any coolant got down there the bottom end and bearings and stuff would be shot to H#$%.

I guess it would all depend on how much was mixed in. If it was enough having it run for any amount of time is bad. Its already circulated around the engine, saturating the bearings. Then leaving it to sit...mmm...A few questions:
Did you buy your engine from the same shop thats doing the work now?
What does the warranty cover?
Why do you think its their fault the gasket blew?

I would turn to the shop for their advice, the motor is still under their waranty is'nt it?
If they say to change the head gasket and oil and your fine, hold them to it.

Well heres the thing, i bought the engine from a 3rd party and there was no warranty with it, i didnt have enough money to buy a warrantied engine so i bought it, and why i think it was their fault is because im damn sure there wasnt a blown head gasket when i took it in there And the day before when they fixed my crank sensor they said "its running much better" i dont know, also the person working on my car i found out wasnt a certified mechanic, so im taking it somewhere thats a little more expensive but its very well known for its quality.

Yipes....well I don't really think of a head gasket as something they could have damaged during the install...I dunno what to say at this point, lemme get more coffee in me

I got it...Every item over $500, I think it was, has an "assumed warranty." My brother-in-law is studying law..hrm...anyway and he was telling me about it. There'*, depending on the state, a window where the product you buy is expected to function and if it doesn't you're entitled to a refund. Check with your local laws but around here I think it was 30days...
