ok, no matter how long i run the ac nothing runs onto driveway. As far as the plug goes I don't even know how to check for that. I was pretty much just asking could this be causing my problem with water under my carpet 'cause I cant have that common ground thing short out again. THEN, I figured I would try to tackle the ac. But if you have suggestions for it too......doesn't matter to me. I'll take any help I can get.

That explains where your water comes from. Instead of dripping to the ground, it'* coming inside the car.

I don't know exactly where the drip tube is. I am sure you'd have to jack up the car, support it safely with stands, and look under the firewall on the right half of the car.

Someone else here probably knows where the tube is located exactly...?

that makes some sense, BUT, would that be leaking inside the car if I never ran the AC. I can't say the idiot before me didn't. So I guess one thing to do is dry underneath carpet and insulation best I can and never run AC and see if it stays dry now?? That make any sense?

Default leaks

I've been fighting multiple leaks for about 2 years now . I'd sell this car right now except I wouldn't get much for it with no carpet and people would think it was a flood car which it isn't (although it might as well be ) . I found a leak around the parking brake cable and around all of the wiring harness at the firewall . Apparently Pontiac'* harness leaked so to quick fix them they wrapped sheets of sealant around them . Well those things have dried out so they now leak . There is one large one on the drivers side under the brake booster and two on the passenger side up high . I globbed sealant all over them but I still have a leak coming from way up high on the passenger side and can't see where it'* coming from . I don't have time to work on this car anymore . Hope this helps . By the way , I've already repositioned all four door seals as they were all leaking as well ! Pretty sad , huh ? If anyone has any ideas about this one I'd appreciate it . Thanks

this is honestly scaring the crap out of me. There is a LOT of water under carpet and has allready shorted out one electrical thing and seems like not only a VERY common problem in these years but a time consuming hard to fix issue. I'm now very seriously considering selling car b/c I just started school again and I'm trying very hard to get all A'*. Plus just started new job and don't want to deal with this. I havn't found any of the leaks yet to even fix. I am pretty discouraged now but thanks again for everyone help.

When the carpet gets wet gives the clue. Does it get wet after it rains? does it get wet after driving in the rain? Does it get wet after using air conditioning on humid days?

Someone on the Bonneville Club posted about taking out the carpet and hanging it up to dry-the only way to really dry the thing out thoroughly. If you pull it out, that will make it easier to see from where the water is coming as it puddles...

that'* just it, carpet itself doesn't get wet. I didn't even know about problem until I had to fix common connector problem under carpet by drivers door that shorted out b/c of this water. It'* all UNDER carpet and turned the insulation basically to mush. I dried it out somewhat but can't pull carpet up far enough to do it completely w/o taking out seats. Prob is this is only car and I don't know if I got time to deal with this. At any rate, rubber on bottom of carpet is keeping actual carpet dry and clean, but pull it up and it'* puddlepallooza.

Default an update

an update on this leaking issue....the retardedly cold temps in Chicago recently have helped by freezing the leaking water for an easy trace to both my door seal AND from under the dash. So anyone else looking for leaks....if it'* cold by you maybe wait for freezing temps and follow the ice...LOL. I guess one good thing came of me moving to the north pole.
