Default Non starting/ running issues

I was wondering what are some non-starting/running issues these particular cars have?

I know this is kind of a broad question, but Im sure it will also help future problems that members may have

To start
UIM
Battery
Fuel pump

If you are having stalling/non-starting issues, can you give us more specifics about what condition the problem occurs in? Turns over but doesn't catch? Or doesn't turn over? Stalls when?

Your question is too vague to even begin diagnosing at this point.

FWIW, fuel pumps are rarely an issue.

I personally dont have a Bonneville, but was trying to help a buddy with starting issues.

He'* not real car savy, so I was trying to help him get in the general direction, by giving him a list of possible things that these cars have troubles with in the starting department

That'* fine..but hey...give us a hint as to what the problem is. For example.."We turn the key and nothing happens. " Or," it cranks, but doesn't start." Without proper information, he could be chasing it from the front of the car to the rear. Anything we'd suggest at this point would be just throwing parts at it in the hopes that a proper guess is made.

Cranks but will not start. The car wouldnt start one day after work.

Checked and rechecked the battery, fuses, fuel pump, etc...
Just about everything he can do by himself over the phone 50 miles away.

So far all have been good

sorry about that, I totally forgot to post the problem to begin with

OK..now we're getting somewhere. What year Bonneville is it? Is it supercharged? When he turns the key on, can he hear the fuel pump run for about 5 seconds? On the fuel rail, under the engine sight shield is a black cap looks something like the cover for a valve stem. Have him remove that, and then press the valve, being careful to watch for spraying fuel...does any spray out? Does he know how to check to see if the plugs are firing?

1996-98 Not sure, as he didnt specify.

Not */C

I had his girlfriend turn the key so he could listen for the fuel pump priming, and yes he heard it cycle.

He does have fuel pressure

Good idea I'll have him go through the plugs placing each one on the block
And I might just tell him not to hold the plug

Thanks
CJ

Thanks for reporting back! We don't often hear how things turn out. Glad to hear that it is up and running.
