Thnx Matt......
This kit is probably the "cheapest" route to bypass the VATS system for a Remote Car Starter. The only cheaper way is to get the resistor you need only. This kit consists of all 15 resistors, plus instructions on where to install the particular one you need. I'm sure you can adapt this kit to allow you to bypass the VATS entirely, but be warned though.....This is only a temporary fix, as the VATS is tied into the ECM as well & the ECM will know that the VATS isn't working and react accordingly too.

fire!
Would the car still crank if the VATS system is activated? From what I read it shuts all systems down. I mean most post I have read said the car wouldn't even crank, and my Haynes says it is Pass Key fuel disable. I have got fuel, and it cranks over, but no spark. So is bypassing the VATS system really gonna pay off or am I pissing in the wind? I really can't afford to haul this thing to a dealership. I have tried everything I, and all of you could think of to get this thing to run again (see post "holy crap") and I really appreciate all your help, but what now! :?

Something isn't jiving here. and I don't think it is the VATS. I have pretty much a perminent code 58 on my 92 and it doesn't prevent it from starting. The VATS will prevent the injectors from working after about 3 seconds from start up, meaning it will start then stall right away. The VATS in no way affects the spark. How are all your inputs to the ICM (the power, ground etc.)?

I only see one plug into the ICM, this has been brought up before, someone told me to make sure the 2nd plug was in right, but I only see one. As I have siad before, this car was bought at a police auction and has probably sat for a year. Everything is dirty and the car was not well maintained before. At least not to the level one of us would have kept it. But pulling wires and cleaning the, I don't even know where to start? I cleaned the battery terminals last night, checked all fuses...twice...tried everything suggested. Is that your Bonne in the pic? Mine is the same color, except for a black bra covers some front end damage. Thanks! :?

Just to add:
The code 58 sets when the VATS is not detecting the right resistance at the key pellet resistor. If code 58 is set, then your car does not need the correct resistor pellet to start.
