Before I start, because this is my first post, I just want to say that this is a great site?
I want to upgrade my catalytic converter and muffler. Through all the reading from the site I have decided to go with Magnaflow’* cat. #91006 and muffler #12266. Now the questions I have, because I am getting a little confused are: 1. from what I have read, I will gain on top end speed (?), but lose low end torque. Is that so? 2. I like a nice throaty sound but; will this drown out my sound system? I listened to some of your clips (nice) and read you go back and forth about the sound and which is better etc. I live in NYC, but I take many long trips. Will I want to shoot this car after two hours, i.e. how does it sound on the highway? Oh, I should mention that I made intake mods. already.

Welcome to the Club...
Please do not dig up old threads...
Start a new thread as I have done for you for any questions that you may have...
We learn all of the time and what we thought was good 1 year ago may be a bit of a diffrent story now...
If you go with the 2.5 in and 2.5 out cat you should be fine... From what I understand the Magnaflow Muffy can be a bit loud and drive you nuts at crusing speed and get a bit raspy without the resonator...
We do reccomend that you leave the factory resonator on there which you should have as you have a 94 Bonneville...
Others will have some thoughts for you, and usually it to each his or her own for exahust noise level

Did you know that you can buy a stock replacement muffler and you will not outflow it? This allows those who want a new Hi-flow Cat for performance to keep the sound level down.

That is good to know. However, I wished I had read your response before I ordered everything. By the way, where can I get the GM muffler from. My wife has a Buick Regal and I may want to put one on her car.
An original GM replacement can be gotten at the dealer or GMPartsdirect.com (much cheaper), however I recently found an OE Replacement at Rock Auto, fit was perfect. Price was great.
Only thing to keep in mind is that the original muffler was a stainless steel mix that prolongs it'* life. OE replacement is probably a 3 year life.

Yeah, once I figure out how to do it. I tried once before and it did not work. However, that was during the same weekend the site got hacked. Maybe that'* why it did not happen but, I have a SSE w/ the L27 package.

Okay, I updated myprofile. I just received the tips for the exhaust. I went in a little different direction. I going to ovals but, many of the new cars have them. So, I went with Camaro style rectangles, they look nice.
