If you stick with the L36, you can use any from 95 to current. Some brackets and sensors will have to be retained from your original motor, but the motors themselves are the same.

If you go L67, that'* a whole new can of worms, but 97 and newer would be generally preferred.

To keep things as low cost and easy as possible, then try to stick with the same type engine you have. That way you have your old engine to take parts from if needed. When your done I'm sure there are people here that may be interested in your parts. So you could get some of your cost back.

Is there somewhere I can find a list of everything the L36 was in? Were they in lesabre'* and such as well during the same years?

95-05 Bonneville SE, SLE, SSE (non-Supercharged)
95-99 Olds 88, 98
95-05 Buicl Regal, Riviera, Park Ave, LeSabre Non-Supercharged
00-05 Impala LS
97-03 Grand Prix GT and some early SE'*
98-99 Monte Carlo Z34, Lumina LTZ and some police models

And from the sounds of it, you want to get the L36 motor and stick with it, so you can ignore the Supercharged references above (most people assume that when you say motor swap, you want to go to the supercharged one)

As a couple others mentioned, you can get a motor out of any of these years, the differences being you might have to swap some accessories and brackets onto yours. It would also be recommended that you replace the lower intake manifold (LIM) gaskets as well as the upper intake manifold (UIM) and gaskets to ensure that you don't run into the UIM failure right away.

Back to the top.

I've decided to get a motor from LKQ.

It'* going to be coming out of a Non-supercharged 2000 LeSabre with 88k on the clock for $355. They're saying it ran good, tested good, and has 185psi across all 6. I plan on getting the new LIM gaskets from the Chevy dealer, and if I'm concerned at all about the UIM I'll replace it as well as the gaskets. I'm also going to put new gaskets everywhere else before dropping it into the car, I'm just basicly looking for one more confrimation that this motor will work. Now that you guys know what the motor I'll be using is coming out of, does anyone know for certain what I'll have to swap from my old motor to make it work?

I'm sure some of these questions are fairly repetative, but thank you everyone for the help. Without your help and information I wouldn't of found a motor yet.
