Default Need new carpet

The carpet in my ssei had seen its day long before I bought it. Has anyone ever replaced the carpet throughout the car? Is it possible to do this on my own or do I have to take it somewhere? And approx how much would it cost? Thx, Bret

I had to remove the carpet and all jute backing and sound deadening stuff due to broken sunroof drains. I also have an SSEi, with console and leather. Is your carpet torn? if not you may be able to wash it. I'll tell you now it'* a PAIN to remove the seats, they are HEAVY and the console has about 90 bolts to remove it. I've been a GM mechanic for 5 years and it'* one of the hardest interiors i've ever had to take apart. It can be done, but set aside 2 days for it.

Yeah if its not torn then why not just steam clean it... Well if you dont have a steam cleaner this might be difficult. Otherwise take your carpet out and go at it with soap and a power washer. If you dont have a powerwasher have your friend drive you to the nearest self serve car wash dealybobers..
Ive done this one time and dont want to do it again. Its not an easy job but when you get done you will like your results.

The carpet isnt ripped, it is however oil stained and for some reason will not stay under the back seat. It keeps slipping out and folding over itself, especiallly when someone sits in the back seat. Is there a way I can take the back bench out so that I can adhere the carpet to the floor? If so what kind of adhesive should I use?

There is 2 hooks that hold the back seat in on mine. You push the seat back towards the trunk and then pull up the back and it lifts right out. I would use some spray adhesive that would be the best thing to use in this application I think. I used it for my carpet in my Thunderbird and it worked great and that was a few years ago and it is still in place. Good Luck
