Default nasty front-end shudder hard acceleration from stop

if I take off hard from a light or intersection (it seems sometimes I have to be in a slight turn) the front end shakes somethin fierce just at the point the tires would lose traction. Trac control on or off. Had a clicking CV so we were guessing that it may be the culprit, but new halfshaft makes no difference. Its almost as if I have a wheel hopping... but I've never seen a wheel hop on a fwd and everything in the suspension seems tight the last time I checked on the lift. Anyone ever heard of a Bonnie doing this? May I have a differential/transfer chain problem?

The tire is a possiblilty. Try rotating it to another position on the car and see if anything changes. Look over the brakes etc while in there.

thing is I tried to reproduce it last night with my brother watching the front wheels but I couldn't get the car to do it. It actually burns sticky goodyears on dry pavement quite easily. Both wheels each time. It seems that the car has to be operating temp and I have to be making a slight turn for it to happen

I may have found it. Gonna bring my car to the dealer with this TSB. "Launch Shudder" is the best description I can think of for my problem anyways. I notice sometimes my tranny likes to hang rpm on shifts.

This bulletin is being revised to add additional models and model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 00-07-30-002A (Section 07 - Transmission/Transaxle).
Condition
Some owners of the above vehicles with a HydraMatic 4T65-E transaxle may comment on harsh upshifts or harsh garage shifts, soft shifts, shudders on hard acceleration, or shifts erratic. These conditions may appear intermittently or set a DTC P1811 or P0748. During diagnosis, a low or high line pressure (actual versus desired) may be observed.
Cause
The above condition may be due to any one of the following which may affect line pressure output:
^ Sediment inside the pressure control (PC) solenoid valve, causing the PC solenoid valve to mechanically bind.
^ Sediment in the valve body, causing the torque signal regulator valve to stick.
^ Incorrect transaxle oil level.

I was going to say a sticky caliper that gets worse as the brake heats up. Might be something to check anyway before you go to the dealer. Is one rotor hotter than the other after it does this?

So far I have found that the car will only shudder at launch when tranny is at operating temp. When cold I get nothing but smooth wheelspin, dry or wet. When at operating temp, the tranny will shudder about 70% the time, the other 30% I get a nice strong launch. I had someone observe the front wheels, one at a time, while I reproduced this condition and there is no noticable wheelspin, but the wheels will visibly "vibrate" with a noticable shuddering sound fron the engine bay. I'll check wheel temps next time but I highly doubt its a sticky caliper... there are no other symptoms to indicate this i.e. steering pull, noticable drag, etc. It will shudder up to about 25mph if I nail the accel. hard enough, with the shuddering becoming less pronounced the closer I am to this speed. From a stop it is so violent that I have to release the accel and then dip in easily to continue. Violent enough to make me think the tranny would just drop out of the car if I continued

And I apologize for posting in 2 threads, since this was the original one and we seem to be describing the same problem, you probably can just lock or delete my thread on the subject. Although I like my description better

EDIT: wait a minute, this is my thread. Too much coffee this mornin.

I too have an issue with heavy acceleration. The other day, I was going about 30 MPH and mashed on the pedal to pass a slower moving vehicle. When I did, the front end pulled hard left and hard right a couple of times. It was as if I couldnt control it at all. A little scary, but I did it again to see if I could get the same result and I did but it didnt pull as hard.

I do believe I have a tranny issue, but its not bad at this point. I think its actually just beginning, but my brother said that it could be that I need new struts. Who knows for sure, but I know that its one more thing I have to add to the repair list if thats the case.

An interesting notice in difference is that I recently changed from my Ghetto golds to my summer chromes which have slightly wider tires. I noticed some tire rub on the inside of the wheel well cover (plastic) when I take tight turns, but it seems as if the steering and traction is better when im driving. Can the front end pulling be caused by the larger width tire?
