Default My Odometer is Crazy!

I bought my 94 sle about 7 years ago, and at the time it showed around 77,000 miles. A few weeks after I got it, I started noticing that the odometer would roll backwards on occasion and the car would actually lose miles. For whatever reason, when I am driving around town, the car will almost always either lose miles, or just stay where it is. When driving on the freeway, it gains miles at a perfectly normal rate. Has anybody ever seen anything like this before? Could odometer fraud be the cause? According to carfax, the car was in a minor accident in '94 when it had like 200 miles on it. If it has been going on that long, I can't imagine how many miles the car really has on it, as I have put on at least 50,000 since owning it, and it only shows about 101,000. I may be the only person to hit 100,000 twice within about 20 minutes. The car is on its last legs, but I'm just curious if anybody has a clue about this before I get rid of it.

Must be something wrong with the electric motor inside the dash. I hope you're selling it to a scrapyard or the next owner will probably report it to the DMV.

It'* going to get driven for a few more weeks and scrapped. In its condition, there aren't even many good parts left.
