I finished mine yesterday... without a garage. The part is not too bad. $59 at my local dealer or $28 plus *&H from GMPD. It will require some patience, though and about a bag and a half of swear words.

The weather has been pretty crappy here with it raining and being cold. I don't have a lick of patience at all. I'll give it a try but I'm usually pissed within minutes and when I'm pissed I'm worthless when it comes to working on something. I aint made to work on cars. Plus I don't have any tools so I will have to buy some

Subject: Question about Temp Guage?
In my post I explained that it was stuck and it goes to normal temps after about 5 to 10 minutes or so. I took it for a drive tonight and after it finally went up to normal temps and stayed. On the way home it dropped to the bottom again and the service engine soon light came on. Do you think it may be the thermostat stuck open if it'* having these problems. Basically it stays at the bottom and then goes up to normal temps after awile then dropped back to the bottom. Also with my heat problem, I ran the codes on the climate controle and got a 140 and a 152. The 140 is the airmix actuatator. Could a stuck thermostat cause that from working? or is that going to have to be replaced?
This was a PM. Your ECT wiring is either shorting, or your temps are cycling like I've never seen. You need to explore both options. Disconnect your ect and check for a short between both wires while you wiggle the harness. Also change your thermostat. Good excuse to go with a 180.

Your Airmix code is unrelated to any ECT or thermostat problems. Ignore the 152 code. You can clear that after you fix the Airmix door.

Please try to keep all your troubleshooting in the open forum. I get 10-20 PM'* a day, and cannot respond to them all. If I had the time to solve problems through PM'*, nobody else would benefit from seeing you fix these problems. We need this information in the public eye.

I'll check the ECT for any problems and if not I'll probally end up replacing the t-stat. It sucks I won't ahve the cash to fix my airmix until about a week or so. It looks like I'll be freezing for awhile.

If you want to just give it a shot. Take that DC motor out and squirt some contact cleaner up in it. It may just need a bump or a whack ....and this may maybe might work.
You " could " yank it out and jam the door open. This is Mcguyverazation at its best but it may work. Jam that thing open with a zip tie ... seriously its better than freezing.
When you get the big bucks go buy a new one.

LOL! I may have to try that. How much do you think it would cost to take to a Pontiac dealer and get it put in?

Tempature door actuator 1.8(warr) 2.7(std)
If center console equipped console add .7(warr) .8(std)

Part = $59
Labor = 3.5 hrs @ $70(?) per hr = $245
Total = $304

It looks like I'll be freezing or trying it myself because I aint paying $300 to have heat. I'll rip the dam thing apart myself. I don't have $300 to spend on some tech dude to do that.

Default Heater Actuatar

hey I know whats going on with your situation I got a 95 bonne ssei, my heater actuatopr was what my problem was, everything that was stated in the diagnostic process in the past post is what happend to me. I get all my work done at the dealership and they gave me the estimated GM Manual Labour guide at 3.5 hrs. After it was all said and done it was about 7 hrs. $76 part at GM cost, and 8 times that in labour. I was there for a bit watching beacuse Im a co-op student there it looked like a pretty stressful job the center counsel had to come out and the dash pulled forward. But heck I got crazy warm heat now getting ready for Canadian Winter.
