I took my car to dealer to find out what was wrong and what cause the noise. 1st problem tranny pan seal needs to be replaced dealer charge 125.00. Power steer pressure hose is leaking causing air bubbles that is what causing the odd noise and vibration(275). 3rd leak intake needs to be resealed (310 ). 4th is value cover also need to be resealed(180.00). All together that approx $900. To do it my self will cost approx $120 parts. The dealer wants 180 for the steer pressue hose for the. Local auto supply wanted 45.86 for that part. What on makes the rubber so speacil to cost 134 more. Thnx I had vent. So I am going to be taking my car apart this weekend.

I say it is always best to find the small shops in your area, and select the good ones..

It sounds easier than it is . It'* taken me 15 years to find a mechanic I trust. He'* not the cheapest, until I calculate the cost I save by not being suckered into extras I don't need. Like Sears and Firestone do all the time... as well as nearly all the dealers I've gone to..

Sam...you can do one better. Get a best buddy who'* a mechanic. Once he teaches you how to do it he'll never fix anything for you again...but you'll know how to fix it.

I end up doing a lot of my own work....and that saves huge over even a small local guy.

The intake gasket leak is obvious , it looks like it leaking lot of oil ,but I never lost any noticeably when a change the ever 3000 miles

If you call the dealer and tell them that you work for a deale r/ garage ( business ) they will give you the parts at 10% over cost. At times i find it cheaper to get the parts at the dealer. The best way to do it is call every option that you have first.
