Yes, right after you change the head gaskets. One or both is leaking combustion gases into the coolant.

Probably a little late, but....

When my upper intake went, she didn't spill a drop of coolant. I was just suddenly running hot, out of coolant, and the next time I tried to start her (Hoping against hope, since I was 250 miles from home in Sioux Falls) she wouldn't even crank. Hydro-locked!! Still not a drop of coolant on the outside of the engine.

$1200 later for a brand new upper and "New and improved" lower intake (and dealership labor) she was back up and running.

Yeah, that'* what everyone said when I first posted this. But I did go ahead and opt for the brand spankin' new lower intake while they were in there. That, and it was a GM dealership, so labor was pretty high.

Got a really good deal on the rental car, tho! So it kindabalanced out. Thank God for Credit Cards, tho.....

When coolant disappears it goes somewhere. Either inside or out. Get that determined. Fill it up, run it and look. It'* somewhere like the others have said.

Brown Coolant - Flush and freshen. Your cooling will probably increase.
