I assume you've checked the coolant level?

When does it overheat? Does it do it when sitting still driving or does it not matter? Are your fans kicking on when the motor is hot?

Have you changed or had anything worked on lately? Do you have a check engine light on?

**edit** never mind, you just answered that..

So you just had a new thermostat put in? Did this start before or after you had the thermostat put it? Could be air in the system.

There should be a valve on top of the thermostat for bleeding air out of the system. Start the car and loosen the valve, see if any air comes out. If coolant starts coming out, you can tighten it back up.
