Default Motor oil & more...

What kind of motor oil are you guys/gals using, and what'* the difference in brands & weights?

Also, I was in an auto store a few days ago and noticed two cars (1997 Bonneville & 1998 Buick LeSabre) both with 3800 Gen II motors. The LeSabre had a junkyard transmission in it; I assume the other went dead. The Bonneville (owned by a lady looking to be around 50+ years old) said she just had her transmission rebuilt a few months ago at about 90K miles on the car.

My question is: Is this common problem on these transmissions?

What type of trans is in these cars. The motors were not Supercharged.

Reason for my concern is that I purchased an L67 (Supercharged) motor & trans 4t65e w/ 67K miles on them from a 1997 Bonneville SSEI for my LeSabre T-Type.

Thanks in advance,

Both had the 4T65E. It replaced the 4T60E in 97. You have the HD version of it. No, I'd say that their problems are way out of character for the miles. I know for certain the 4T60E and HD last much longer on the average.

Thanks for the quick response. Didn't know if anyone would respond since I only have the heart and legs of the Bonne and the body of a LeSabre T-Type. But you guys seem to be all good.

Peace
