Ok, now comes a call to all the knowlegeable people here for some additonal help.......I am STILL getting a 106 code with the check engine light on. It supposed to be the manifold absolute pressure something or other. I have installed a new MAP sensor from GM direct and nothing has cleared the light..........just what do you think is going on and what should I do next...........?

Code 106? Is that right? (Of course my info is based on '93, may be something new for the later years...) If the MAP sensor is coding, make sure you check the vacuum lines going to it. It could also be an electrical problem, but I don't have the specifications to check that.

You did disconnect the battery after you put in the MAP sensor to clear the codes, right?

Yeah if you havent used a tool or manually cleared the codes then it would still trip the light because the code is still in memory .

WIth the obd-ii doesnt the code after to be reset with a computer? Autozone might be able to do this for ya. It stores codes in there

My 96 reset itself on the Check Engine light I had when I replaced my O2 sensor. This is the first GM car that I have had that will reset itself. Usually I have had to unhook the battery for a few minutes, but as soon as I started my car after replacing my rear O2 sensor the light was off.

I would unhook the bat for 15- 20 min then hook it back up and turn on your car. If its still on maybe you should go get it scaned by a Scan tool and have them removed that way. :?
