Default MAF screen revisited

Since I changed to a rice pipe recently, I decided to take the MAF screen back out to see how the new intake would handle it. Well, idle quality is **** poor.

BUT... The car seems to pull harder than it has recently at the top end. It could be the temps being 15 degrees cooler than before I took it out (Friday afternoon), I don't know. MAF readings are no higher than normal.

GM tuners did a test with a Maf and Non Maf and the non maf TB flowed better than the TB with the screen

Would you think idle is related to the length of the pipe and size of the filter? My idle is and has always been fine with the rice pipe installed, but then again I cut a good inch or two off the end of it before I put it on, and my filter is smaller then most.

I cut an inch and a half off the pipe and I'm using the ol' RX-4750.

My 93 idled poorly for about a day when I took the screen out. It cleaned right up after that (this was on the stock throttle body, not the butchered TB).
