Default Low Oil Pressure Reading

Sup guys, its been a while

Anyways, I'm about 4k away from 200k and she'* been giving me some trouble...................................When the engine is cold everything is fine, however once the engine has warmed up and I come to a stop my oil pressure goes below 10 and the engine light comes one (not service engine light, but the actual picture of the engine in the outline of the car). The engine doesn't miss a beat during all of this, and as soon as i hit the gas, the oil pressure is back up to normal until i come to a stop again. Any thoughts? Thanx guys

Bret

mine sometimes does this too. when you motor gets hot your oil pressure will read lower but ifl your car is not giving you any problems when it does this i wouldnt worry about it.

you should have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gage....
I will say for the price of an oil pressure switch $20 its worth replacing.... But the Mechanical gage will tell you the truth...

it may be the start of:
A. bad Oil Pump.
B. Conn Rod Bearing clearance.

My95 SE started doing this after it suffered the intake issue and the knocking started only
after the oil pressure dropped so low as to set the alarm off (low oil pressure ding) & the
engine was starved for oil due to not enough pressure! It started rapping and she croaked...

Good luck!

The low oil pressure is something you should be alarmed about, so make sure you have the pressure verified by a real oil pressure gauge.

When that happened to me, I ended up replacing the engine. Bottom half was shot.
