Low oil pressure, any advice?
Well my car is slowly getting lower and lower oil pressure. It seems to be getting lower as the temps outside warm up. at cold start up and under power, my oil pressure sits about 40psi. At idle after the car gets hot the oil pressure drops as low as 18 psi. there is slight white smoke out the tailpipes at idle, but i think this is because i am running very rich. My MAF sensor is way out of calibration, so i am getting a diff one. i have been watching my coolant level and it doesn;t seem to be going down at all. is this sounding like main bearing starting to wear out? Or what else could be causing my low oil pressure?

Coolant or fuel in your oil can do this too. Is your coolant level staying constant? How'* your PCV? Have you checked compression?
Does an oil change improve your pressure? When you pull the vac line off the FPR after driving, do you smell fuel in it?
What does your oil look/smell like? Anything out of the ordinary?

As far i know the coolant is consistent. i put a mark on the resevoir today so i can be sure. haven't checked compression or pcv or anyhitng like that. an oil change has no affect on the pressure. I have been hearing valve ticking under light-moderate acceleration. My Dad sugested throwing in 15w50 oil in with some lucas to bring up the pressure, so i'm going to try that out. I am also going to take the oil pressure sending unit off and hook up a gauge to check the pressure, to make sure the sending unit is not faulty. since i purchased this car about 8 months 7k miles ago(stored 4 months for winter), i don't beleive the oil pressure has even been over 45psi at all.
i haven't noticed any metal shavings in my oil or any odd smells, it looks / smells like normal used oil.

Burning oil has nothing to do with the advice we're giving on the PCV. It won't cause you to burn oil if it'* bad, and it COULD be a contributor to the low oil pressure. Just change it. It'* only a couple bucks.
