I think I paid about $25 for my compression tester.

Here it is. http://cgi.ebay.com/Automotive-MOTOR...item4cee97a220

The head gaskets alone would cost more then that.

ok ive been thinking about it more and a chiped piston doesnt realy make sence to me it has to be something witha the valve train cuz when you not boosting or min boost its fine when you go wot it knocks louder and hesitant and doesnt go any where. a i dont think a chiped piston would slow down the car at all at lest in my head but i dont know that much about motors

I would pull the valve covers and inspect the valve springs. I worked on a car a while back that had under load issues. It passed every test we threw at it including a compression test. We found a broken valve spring on #6

See if you can wiggle that rocker. If you have a bent push rod or a bad lifter the rocker will feel loose.

OK, so refresh us on the problem here. Does it stutter under WOT? But runs OK otherwise? If so, coils. Even if they test OK, they may still be the problem.

it seems to bog down in higher gears at wot and it does run fine other wise. the coils were replace not that long ago but its possible i could have gotten a bad one but could the plate they sit on be bad? i do have a spare one of thoughs. but they what would the ticking noise be? and the metal shavings? my brother said it mite be a bad connecting rod but i dont think it would make that kind of tick
