L36 Engine Support
Concerned with proper procedure for engine support during teardown for UIM/LIM gaskets replacement, waterpump, drivebelt, accesssories inspections. FSM states to use engine support fixture. Read thru numerous posts here and get the impression of the use of a floorjack. Please advise me of what works for past experiences, jack location point. I read jr's3800 post of constructiion of an "engine hangar" with great interest.
TIA. :?

The engine hanger described in Techinfo will support the engine from the strut towers and the radiator cross support allowing the transmission and subframe to be removed from below.
No support is needed for changing out the UIM and LIM gaskets.
If a procedure calls for removing a motor mount like the torque axis mount, to gain access to front cover components, the motor can be easily supported or raised as necessary with a board to distribute the load on a floor jack under the oil pan.
