Default L27 Upper Intake Gasket Failure?

So here I am trying to rip my TB off and low and behold.....

Coolant loss over a 3 month period:

This is a problem with the gasket on the upper intake manifold correct?

Ummm.....I think you're panicking over nothing. L27 intakes aren't prone to failure. L36'* are.

That looks like MINOR grime to me.

Looks like you have or had a coolant sensor leak

lol. I forgot "gasket" in the title.

That is fresh gunk.

I degreased the heck out of that motor recently and yes, that is fresh...trust me

I cannot determine whether it is the coolant sensor or the upper gasket.

If you can't tell, clean it back down and fire it up and watch closely to find out exactly where it'* coming from.

Probably the lowers, and it'll be a non-pressure leak. That'* oil, not coolant. The primary failure in the lowers will be the joint where the lower intake manifold meats the block and each head in the corners. The tip of this gasket erodes, allowing the valvetrain to spatter oil out.

The blue seals in the pic are what I'm talking about:

This is an L27, obviously with the heads removed. You don't need to remove the heads in order to do this. (Jseabert'* 93 SSE)
