got it back yesterday and while on my way to class today it seems really sluggish... almost like something is holding it back untill i REALLY get into the boost. at a cruise it seems to run with the gauge at 0 psi... i thought it used to sit at about -5 psi.... anyhow, is there like a breakin period that i should know wabout for this?

There is no "break in" for the LIM gaskets. I hope the tech didn't rush it too much and forget to hook something back up

oh, interisting info i got from them too. when they replaced the LIM gasket they just unbolted the intake and lifted everything. they didn't have to unhook much at all they said. i guess thats good though, they stayed out as much as possible. |

well got the EGR replaced and drove it up north to visit with Sara again. it was still acting funny on the way up. the boost gauge was sitting at about 0 (straight up) while crusing at about 78 when it used to sit at about -7 or so... got 18 MPG straight highway too!!! when excellerating normally it seemed very sluggish too. that was all on the way up there... on the way back it started to cruise normal and the acceleration seems to be back to normal (never was great).
so, is it possible that the computer had to relearn some stuff with the new EGR and that after a few hundred miles i'm fine? :?: |
It sounds like they hooked some vacuum lines up wrong, and the wastegate is stuck open. Can you snap us a pic of the vacuum hoses?
|
i'll snap a pic when i get home today...
i mentioned that first thing myself too but when i asked about it they said they never unhooked them... either way i had them go over the lines again and they did replace a cracked line. also, the accuator (however you spell that!) moves still, but there is a leak where the rod that it twists goes into the side of the SC. i'll get a pic of what i'm talking about later on as well. |
sorry that i never go the pic up... School and work have been kiilling me.
anyhow, i got her back from the mechanic yesterday and everything seems to be tip top this time. what ended up being the problem was a damaged wire going to the knock sensor. apparently when they unhooked the wires to get a the LIM gasket they mush have pulled it or let it touch something too hot when they put it back together. either way, it was free becuase it may have been cause by their work. just wanted to throw this out here and keep it up to date. its nice to have the bonneville back in working order again  |
