Default Just bought my first SSEi, got questions!

I just bought a 96 SSEi with 130k. The car is in good shape overall, but has a few problems I would like to fix myself. If you can help me with any of them I would really appreciate the help. First off I have the problem with both lights staying on with the ride control. I found how to check it in the Techinfo section, only problem is my OBD port has an empty place in #4 pin, so I don't know where to put the jumper. Second problem is with the climate control. The air only blows out of the floor and Defrost. Any ideas to get it working to where I can select where I want it to blow? Also the power antena motor works but the antena does not go up and down. Other than the A/C does not blow cold, everything else seems good. Also does anyone know the best place to find a air hose kit for the compressor in the trunk? And does this compressor ever need to be drained?

I found my air hose kit for the outlet in the trunk on Ebay.

The compressor does not have a reservoir tank so no drainage required.

It might be easier for you (and definitely for us) if you post your questions into individual different posts so the answers don't get all jumbled up, but.......for air blowing out of the floor and defrost only, it is a vacuum issue and most likely collapsed nipples on the connector from the HVAC programmer to the actuators.

Here is a link to a thread that will get you fixed up for your air distribution issue: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ighlight=vents

MiniVan Bob speaketh not with the forked tongue (this time). In the future, post your questions in separate topics so we can all keep track of 'em. No worries for now, though.

Your power antenna is hosed - the cable that runs it up and down is toast. You could take it apart and fix it, I suppose, but it'* easier to ask for one in the parts wanted section or dig one up at a local junk yard or just buy a new one (about $100 or so, I think). When mine (on my '93) bit the dust, it was at half mast and because of this the motor ran constantly. I unplugged it so it wouldn't run the battery down or overheat.

Beginning in '96 (maybe '95) Pontiac gave the Bonneville (at least the SSEi) the ability to manually (not in "AUTO" mode) direct heat out of the center vents using the "MODE" switch on the HVAC controls, whereas I believe prior to that, the climate control programmer made the chioce and the driver could not choose air distribution location. Since he owns a '96, I am assuming that even out of "AUTO" mode, he can't direct heat from the center vents when selecting that mode, which would indicate a vacuum issue in the system (default from GM is air...hot or cold...out of the defrost and floor vents)
