Put some magnets on the tranny pan, and maybe do a fluid change/filter in a few weeks to make sure all the pieces that may have broken are out.

WHY THE HELL IS IT I KNOW WHEN MY WINDSHIELD WASHER IS LOW, BUT NOT MY TRANSFLUID HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM (windshield fliud runs out....find a place to get more fliud at my liesure..........trans fluid runs out.......my trans mission is smoked in less then a minute..) I gonna come up with i kit for this......and a warning light or could a trans temp guauge tell you that your out of fluid, by the temp going sky high?

good point ill get some magnets and change the fluid in about 500 miles.....if shes still shiftin and pullen

A little concern Neekolas- you mentioned that you topped up the fluid, then started it. I'm sure you checked the fluid level again with the engine running, level and in Park. Otherwise, you will have been running with not enough fluid.

Yeah, it'* pretty strange how our cars are setup. But, with proper care you shouldn't lose tranny fluid. Mind you, there are always exceptions. It may be a ploy by GM so they can say "Oh well, your tranny is shot, you need a new one" and the owner may be clueless that all that happened was they ran out of fluid.

No, you cannot tell the fluid level by the transtemp. IMO, the best solution is to get a trans PRESSURE switch on the cooler lines, and if the pressure starts to drop, you know you are losing fluid. You could also do a Y-setup to also incorporate a fluid temp sensor [before or after the cooler]. To me, that sounds like the best solution. Because I think it would be tough to measure fluid level in an auto-trans. Just my opinion though. What kind of pressure the trans sees is beyond me, but I know it wouldn't be all that hard. As long as you do it when your trans is in a reliable condition, so you can get a baseline for how it acts under different conditions [IE like idle/WOT, hot/cold, gear changing etc..]

thanks for the heads up Bill, yes i had it on a level surface, and filled her up, then ran it thourgh RNDd21 and then hecked it again.....the fluid is staying pretty fresh in there, it smells like it was 200 miles ago......so i thnk i may be good........

thats an outstanding idea opensourseguy..............i have one or to adjustable pressure switches at work, ill goof around with them to check the range, and ill see what i can come up with.........im going to be installing a temp guage probalby tommarow, ill let you guys knwo how that goes too!!!!!!!!!! yeah i would say its a ploy, dealer : opps you all of a sudden need a new tranny, what ever shall we do........ that will be 1900 bucks.....

hey this is related to this same problem, after this whole ordeal, im haveing a little front end noise, at about 30 mph and up.....it does not get any louder with speed.....on of the quirks is that if i am in a lane going straight......and i tilt the car to the right and put the wieght of the car on the front left tire the noise amplifies......but if i do the oposite and put the wieght to the front right tire......the noise goes away.......no other symptomes, no turning noise, or going over bump noise.....

can transfluid cause the brakes to drag........does it harm the pads.....becasuse when that line let loose, it went all over the brake caliper, pad and rotor

I'm unsure about brake drag, I would expect slippage because it'* basically a lubricant.

Pick up a can of brake clean and hose off the calipers, pads and rotors. That should clear up any residue.

cool, i was wondering if it would casue brake drag becaseu it got on there and then cokes up after i superheat the brakes commin off and off ramp at 90 and need to stop quick..........ill give the brake clean a shot on there...........thanks

Nick... try relaxin on the throttle before the end of the off ramp. That'll help too. hehehe
