#4 has a good sized brown deposit on the ceramic. Looks like #1 may also have some on the left side of the ceramic. I'd do the coil resistance check since those two plugs are on the same coil.

If that CEL comes back you may need to do a little electrical tracing. That code can be set by a number of things besides a bad EGR valve. Those things include:

- Bad or loose EGR valve electrical connector
- Poor terminal connection for the EGR control circuit at the PCM
- Blown fuse for the EGR valve ignition feed circuit (would indicate open circuit or short in the harness or one of the connectors)

Coil Test:
6-3: 6.09 .7-.8
2-5: 6.18 .7-.8
1-4: 6.24 .7-.8

Doesn't seem bad to me except that the top (6-3) looks a little low... :?

DTC P1406 EGR Valve Pintle Position Circuit

I think you've got a wiring problem, and the computer doesn't know where the EGR valve is at.

After a quick search on google, I found this. Don't know who wrote it or how reliable it is, but it might help you.

Hope that helps.

I already posted that I fixed the EGR problem. :?

I had to tank the car again today. 17 MPG. Something is definately wrong here.

Well, the best tank I've even gotten was 20.5 mpg and that was 70 miles highway to the drag strip, 70 miles back, and 15 passes at the strip with the rest around town driving. I usually get about 17 mpg if I keep my foot out of the throttle and drive to work everyday, 15.5 if I'm bad.

I really don't think you've got a problem. A big 3.8L V6 with a blower likes to munch fuel when you're on the throttle.

What about your catalytic converter? You knock on that and shake it and see if you have any noise coming from there? A clogged or cracked/ broken catalyst in there could cause sluggish performance and I even had misfire codes when mine went.

There'* an issue. The CEL is a sure sign.

Any other symptoms? Running rough, you mention sluggish, running hot or cold?

The CEL was an EGR code, and he specifically said he fixed it????????????????

So I'm assuming that the CEL isn't on anymore, and he'* just looking for something that'* not wrong. He gets the same mileage as I do, and said his mom has a stupidly heavy foot, so I assume that she drives the car alot. With a light foot, I'm lucky to get 17, that'* why I suggested that nothing was wrong.

Thanks Blown...

Let'* let him answer since he still seemed to feel there was a problem. I'm more interested in other symptoms... but understand on the EGR..
