I am getting closer and closer to being able to offer BC members a reasonably priced alternative to the KenCo kit. Just need another week or so to do some real-world tests to optimize the installation procedure for the sleeve, for those who want to do it themselves. Bob Dillon is already testing his method of sleeving the uppers for those who want to have it done.
I think we will solve this problem technically and economically.

Bill,
When you get the pipe to the point where it is ready to try I'll be glad to purchase one. I'll put in my old manifold since I have a home for it. Just say when.

RG: Bill was kinda enough to send me one of his pipes. It mikes excellently, just a few thous out of round and with the extended bottom sleeve insert at .400 instead of .250 like the GM piece. It should be easy to install, as well, because a pipece of .750 tubing fits right over it and can push the shoulder down inthe the LIM for a press fit.
I'd say the stovepipe portion of the problem is solved.

OK, got RG'* failed upper yesterday. After a day spent in the parts washer, I reamed it out and sleeved it this AM and am waiting for the JB weld to set up.
It had failed in one place and when I poked around inside with an awl, I easily punched throught the opposite side.
The passage is nicely centered due to the reamers instead of a drill, and I have good plastic in all except the failed spots, so I'm of the opinion this is going to work very well.
