Series I intake problems will be just like any other car, it'll happen to some people under correct circumstances.

Series II intake problems are factory equipment.

I'm betting your thermostat isn't opening fully, or is partially restricted. Is the rubber o-ring installed right? The paper gasket? You may want to buy a higher quality tstat and swap it out again.
i didn't get an o'ring with the t-stat..i goat a paper gasket and some gasket glue!

The permanent fix is to get an L67

Just Kidding. You should have purchased a new "O" ring.
