inspection trouble
I will try to keep this short as possible......For those new to the story line, at 69000 the transmission in my 96 SE was rebuilt. It kept throwing a P1870 code after the rebuild which is supposed to mean a slippage in the tranny. After the tranny guy changed the shift valve mechanisms a couple of times the light would still come on. I ignored it and drove on. I now have over 70000 on the rebuild with no trouble other than I realized just recently the torque convertor is not going into a lock out mode resulting in higher rpms and lower mpg. I went to have it inspected today and it failed. It is now the new law in NC that all cars with the OBD II system now inspects off the computer, not the actual emissions. What a rip off !! So now I go back to find the exact cause of that stupid code all along.......could the TCC solenoid be the cause of the code as well as the tranny not going into the lock up mode? Any ideas, suggestions?? I will be in touch with my tranny guy tomorrow but after this much time passed he might not be to receptive....Thanks and sorry for the long post.....and to set the record straight I just in the last couple of months inherited this car from the wife, so I am just noticing things that are not exactly as they should be............

Just givin' back what I've already gotten from here!
DeathRat'* excuse is that he has nothing to do. He sits there all day at work bored out of his mind. He'll deny it, but I've seen the parts guys at other GM dealerships.

Dylansdad, did you get it? Wanna make sure before I kill the file. I'll leave it up 'til next weekend or until I hear you got it (limited webspace.....must be reserved for kid pics!)
Did it HELP? I guess that'* the big question. DeathRat has LOTS of cool stuff in the files section of Bonneville Intensity on Yahoo! This forum (no offense) because of the formatting is much easier to use, but if you haven't been over there yet, at least take a look. You'll have to register with Yahoo first, but like I said, at least take a look around.
DD, don't thank me on this one, I was just the messenger for the Rodent
