Default infamous chime!

hey! im new to the forum, just picked up a 93 SE loving it like a child, lol. Got a question for ya guys. Im helping my friend put a remote starter in his 94 SE, the vehicle will start when commanded by key or remote. WE have one issue though, when ignition is off and drivers door is open key/ headlamp chime sounds, the vehicle also has no parking lamps or rear running lamps. headlamps operate fine and also do brake lamps. Any ideas? thanks!

You've lost the wiring from the headlamp switch to the parking lamps.

In addition, My bonne did the chime thing when I took the headlamp switch out of the car, so I am guessing that you have disconnected the wiring to both the "off" and "park" positions on the switch. Possibly even reversed them. Double check your wiring modifications.

All the wiring seems to be in tact, i removed the switch and replaced it and the chime still sounded. I have yet to follow the wires all the way behind the dash. Any one got a schematic for this headlamp switch? thanks guys

Email me from the link below this post, and I'll scan a basic schematic for you. It'* not the greatest, but it'* the best I have.

A couple of more thoughts... Do the headlamps work by using the headlamp switch (even in daylight)? Do you have twilight sentinel?

My wiring diagram (for a 93) shows that the lead to the headlamp switch is hot at all times, and the chime module senses 12V+ that comes from the off position on the headlamp switch (with the ignition off and door open).

Check the fuses, and check to see if you have 12v+ to the headlamp switch.

Next, I would check to see if you have 12v+ coming from the correct wires when you turn it to "off" and "park."

Well thanks to the wiring diagram from the wren-master i found an open in the orange wire supplying the headlamp swtich power for the parking lamp/tail lamps. The open was between the switch and fuse panel. I fixed the open and everything operates properly! Thanks for the ideas guys!
