I'm in Monroe Hell!!!
Took a day off from work to install rear air struts in my Bonnie. It'* been a disaster!
Ordered the correct 71798 struts and AK29 install kit from Rockauto.com. Struts arrive in a week shipped directly from Monroe'* warehouse in shelf boxes. No packing, no outer box, just stickers slappe onto shelf boxes. Needless to say that the boxes were not in the best of shape when they arrived.
Opened box #1. Found the correct strut but no strut top nut. It'* annoying but I can re-use the factory nut.
Opened box #2. Found a surprise. Inside is a strut and A BONUS SHOCK!. Yep, a brand new, unlabelled, no-bushing white shock thrown int the strut box. I have no idea what it is for but it did a good job of denting the new strut and making it unusable.
Hunted down replacement strut at a local store, paid $30 more.
The I find out that there are no caps to attach the air hose (from the AK29 air hose kit) to the struts. Called Monroe to ask where the caps would be. Agent tells me that they should have been in the Ak29 kit. Asks me with a snotty attitude where the stuff came from. When I mentioned that they were drop shipped directly from Monroe he said well I guess you are screwed. Call someone and try to rturn the stuff.
So now I have to kill an hour while the local RS Strauss tries to get an AK29 kit to the store so I can see if it is complete.
This sucks. And all of it is poor quality control from Monroe.
Arrgghhhh.
