That symptom could be caused by a sticking thermostat. When it sticks closed, it gets hot; when it opens normally, temps are controlled OK.

I found that when I first got my car the relays for both fans and a/c were not working due to corroded connections. Your fans might not be kickin on when your a/c kicks on. Pop the hood, kick on the ac and check the fans for operation. Cheap easy and free test.

Do the 92-99'* have multi speed cooling fans, fast & slow? Maybe a fast speed relay or series/parallel relay is malfunctioning. I think they are interlocked with a/c controls to run in fast speed when a/c selected to on.

There are 2 fans, and a hi and lo speed relay. They come on High speed with the AC, but aren't directly interlocked to the A/C circuit. It'* the PCM that commands hi-speed fans if it sees the A/C request data line bit go high.

that'* one of the first things i checked...the fans do run with the a/c on....but since i haven't got that hot...i guess the old tstat was sticking....i brought a 180 tstat & new gasket today. So i'll get that put on, a lil' flush, and then we'll how cool that keeps things
