Good, this rules out the VATS cutting fuel and the ability to crank.

Have you checked the wiring in the area to ensure it is not grounding.

Starter Solonoid wiring. I agree. Time to disconnect all cables to and from the starter, alternator, and battery. Clean them all and put them back.

While cleaning the solenoid wire... check it with a multimeter to see if it'* grounding.

Ohm test.. one probe to sol wire..one to good ground. 0 means it'* a perfect ground.
