Default If Car runs better with MAF unplugged can I?

Can I just leave my MAF unplugged? The car seems to run better without it plugged in? I don't even know if my ECM even works the only light on my dash is Volts and no others........ I got a new used ECM I just haven't had time to put it in I have to work the next 7 days yikes. Any thoughts would be great.

Yes, you can drive without the MAF plugged in. However. Drive easy, no hard acceleration.

If driving with the maf unplugged allows the car to run better, then the maf is likely bad.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the info but I also have another problem I bought a used one from the jy and the car ran the same after putting in the used one. I cleaned both of them with maf cleaner and still the same. Could me ECM be bad and do I only pull out my eprom and plug it into the new ECM and then put it back into my car or does it need programed? Thanks for your help

It'* odd that both act the same. Either they are both bad or both good. The correct sensor data shouldn't be that far from the table data.

You are correct on the ECM. Swap the blue chip and off you go.

Running an engine with no MAF runs better than a bad one, but rrunning with the MAF unplugged sets the PCM to default value of max air flow. Your wasting gas and carboning up the engine. Some people run MAF deletes and tune for it, but this is only advantageous for the track. And who here trailers their car and only runs at the track? The cost of a new MAF will pay for itself in a couple tanks of gas. Running without is only going to cost you.
