Ohhhh... okay.

I thought his complaint was that the seatback fell over backwards ("went straight back") when the release was pulled. What you're saying makes a bit more sense here. Can we recommend a good owner'* manual?

I _did_ have such a problem with the reclining seatback in our '96 Trans Sport one day: got in to drive it, something went "snap" behind me while we were still in the driveway, and the seatback fell straight backwards with me in it. Fortunately the van was still in Park at the time.

Turns out that the whole recliner mechanism supports the reclining seat with _one_ (1) bolt, which had sheared in two. Managed to get the broken stub out, replaced it with a another high-tensile bolt, and fired off a report to the NHTSA about it on their website. According to Pontiac there have been no recalls about this...

I think someones just never used a manual seat before.. Or an owners manual!
