The HVAC fan continues to run after the key has been removed. I searched the archives and see a few different things. The on/off switch for the HVAC works. Resistor block, Relay and Fan control module. Is there any consensus on witch one or a way to check some of these items?

I would try the BCM. It'* on the outside of the firewall. i replaced mine today for the exact same reason. The part was $ 104.00 at the dealership.

I agree with the above diagonstics but tou may want to check a junkyard or someone with a parts car first. I picked up one for $25 at a junkyard.

Yeah, 25 bucks is about 75 better than what i paid. I couldn't find one in a junk yard.

Also, that module is farily easy to troubleshoot with a volt meter.

Mine has 4 wires going to it.

Red one is Battery voltage. ( on a plug by itself )
a gray with black stripe coming rom the HVAC unit. It should have about 8 volts on high
A purple one. This should have 0 volts when off. and battery voltage on high.
I bet yours has 12 volts all the time.


Turn everything off and check that purple wire. If it still has juice I would get a BCM.

What is the year and trim line of your car? Do you have electronic climate control?

97 SSE with ECC. I received some part numbers from GM Parts Direct. What is the difference?? Does my car have a relay along with the blower control module controlling the HVAC?

Yes, your blower control module has gone bad. And there are no relays associated with the fan, just the module.

I still have the receipt from the dealer if you want me to check the part number.
I also have the ECC unit. The parts guy did mention something about a delayed unit.
I am not sure though. I can check and post part numbers when I get home from work.
