Can you try it with a cold engine with the belt removed from the car? You should be able to drive 3-5 minutes safely with no water pump, but start with a cold car.

Does the noise go away? If so, we'll start looking at pulleys.

I just diagnosed a possible hub at lunch on Patrick Shroeder'* SSE. More on the 'grindy' side with his. But we'll troubleshoot further before pinning it down.

Just jacked up the passenger side of the car and wiggled the wheel back and forth and there is deffinatly alittle bit of play there. I jacked up the other side to see if it had the same amount of play and there is none on the driveers side. What'* all invoved in replacing the hub can i do it myself or do i have to take it to the car doctors????

thanks dan.i
