Default How many exhaust manifolds are like jrs3800 ?

Hi

Does this problem extend to other years..?

It seems that his rear manifold was improperly cut at the factory..causing a great restriction.

Has anyone else found this on their cars?

Remember gm handicaps it'* engines based on the cost of the vehicle.

So your car is handicapped in many areas that manifold is probably one.

We've had Jseabert'* off.....they were clean. No need to clean them up any. The only way to know is to break them loose and look.

Just like anything else, there'll be some worse than others.

Hi

I saw his in a earlier thread. It was quite revealing..but havent heard of anyothers cropping up.

I wonder if a ported front manifold helps? I've seen them offered for sale. They say the rear offers no advantages...

Hi

The late 80'*, early 90'* series i'* had a slight grumble on takeoff. I havent heard any series II '* make that sound.

I was told that it was due to the muffler design in the stock setup. My parents had a nice 1990 Bonneville that sounded quite fine on takeoff.

I am looking for some sort of muffler/tips that will give me the slight grumble of the 90 Bonnie in my '97 LSS.

Any ideas?

BTW, that red Bonnie of yours looks fine. Love red..

Hi

Did the 1988-90 bonneville'* have resonators? My parents had one, but traded it in 95, so I cant recall.

Is the muffler you spoke of..from a 88-90 SSE i , and if so..would it have outlets at both ends of the muffler?

Hi

What companies manufacture a replacement muffler that would essentially..fit a SSE i ?

I want the tips to be on both sides of the car, but only want the slight grumble that the older Bonnies had. I am prepared to remove the resonator if need be.

Hi

So far, I haven't found anything that has a inlet/outlet on one end..with another outet on the other end with the exception of the GM SSEi muffler. I want it to be relatively quiet...but with the old Bonnie grumble.

I guess I could order the SSEi muffler from GMpartsdirect, which is $200.00 before shipping.., choose the tips I want, and head over to the local midas shop.

I could then replace the stock resonator with straight pipe, and that may return the "sound" .
