Increase? How did it die, what were the symptoms, and why would you want it hotter? Is it not warming up? If that'* the case, you may be missing or have a stuck thermostat.

Never mind.....I found more in another post:

My car died on the road today.. i think the engine couldnt warm up at all, the thing that looks like a musical note in some water temperature display was all the way to the left, at 40 the entire time... anything i can do ? or is my car just dead?
I got is started again though
Check the thermostat, or simply replace it. You also need to check your ECT (engine coolant temp sensor). It'* mounted in the lower intake below the TB, facing towards the driver'* strut tower.

2 things......first, your thermostat is stuck open or missing. Your engine never warms up, and the PCM shuts it down.

Second, your stat and engine temps are just fine, but the sending unit is broken or disconected, making your PCM THINK it'* not warming up.

I vote for the Thermostat.
