Default Help with removing/installing Heater Core

I own a 94' Bonneville SE and the heater core has finally bit the biscuit...I would like to remove it and install another but I need the fine people here to help me with their expertise.

All I know is a friend said I have to remove the entire dash to get to it....Your help in this would be appreciated big-time

Thanks,
FatPat3

The best I can do for you is to explain that it'* a very involved process (and your friend is right). Buy Chilton'* #28200 at a local auto parts place. It'* an invaluable tool, and for $12, the best investment you can make for your car.

There are several posts here already on heater core replacement:

Search for heater core, all terms, 92-99.

Willwren thanks for the advice, and I will buy one of those manuals, I've heard nothing but good things about this book.

I talked to a few more friends and they too said it'* a pain in the butt from what they know and heard, they don't want to install it for they only know the basics. I'm guessing it will probably take a few hours to get to it so I'll have to figure this out soon....Don't want to wait too long LOL, nights are getting cooler.

Thanks again!!

FatPat, where do you live? We may have a member nearby that can lend a book, advice, or a hand.

Plan on 2 days for the heater core replcement. Just to be sure. The books (either Chiltons' or the FSM, which I also highly recommend) will walk you right through it.

?? Where?

Mine failed in my 99 too. I had a local shop do it after I browsed the procedure in the Chilton'*. $295 and a day later, it was replaced! ...and I didn't have any busted knuckles!!
