I'm told you can just splice wires and wire it in, but I don't think it'* gonna look that great. You need a special windshield for the HUD.

Yeah, you need a special windshield. Otherwise, you'll see ghosting and other strange optical effects. I got my windshield replaced last year (on my HUD-equiped 1993 SSE). The price was about $1000. Fortunately, insurance covered it.

I know they make an aftermarket HUD for cars. I saw it not more than a week ago but I don't remeber where. It looked to be a fairly easy install but as the others have said you still may get ghosting with it. It had a small unit (a little bigger than a cigrette box) that mounted on the dash and had wires running down into it. It was only around $150!

Here'* one set of instructions for installing a GM HUD in a GP GT dash:

http://cncgp.clubgp.com/hudinstall.html

This company sells complete aftermarket units that sit on top of the dash:

What Teuobk posted is (I think) what I saw. I wasn't able to find a price on it though to verify. I wish my car had the options that this HUD has! It just wouldn't be practical to have two of them.
