Default Having AC Issues, need advice on 95 SSE

The short version is: I turn on the AC to 60 and its actually hotter than at 90 (after the car warms up). The blower motor seems to be on all the time. I'm getting the vents to switch the way they should, it just seems to be a temperature problem.

Ever since motor was replaced in November, no "real" control over the AC (climate control). Now with summer getting here, I need to get this fixed. I thought it might be the actuator under the passenger air bag (air box actuator), so I'll need those instruction on taking the whole dash apart (anyone?, I've see a link on the net but its dead). I read another post here about vacuum line by the brake'* master cylinder, mine look OK, but I could use a digital picture of someone'* thats actually working, since I got this motor installed maybe they hooked it up wrong? Another thing I've been thinking about is my vacuum system, in the last month my cruise has not been responding or has taken an extreamely long time to resume. I would appreciate any ideas and help.

thanks, Jake

Is your AC compressor coming on?

Default AC

Yes, the compressor is cycling. I've also noticed that the blower fan seems to be on even when the CC is off.

Probably the temperature air mix door or the HVAC programmer, then. Usually if there is a problem there your climate control will blink at you and store a code. It would be wise to see what your internal and external temperature sensors are reading to make sure they are not messed-up. Although I am suspicious of the motor change, your vacuum supply is OK if your vents are switching properly.

Second that.

Can you back up a second and tell us exactly what you have on the '95 SSE?

-- Electronic or manual controls? (i.e. For heater and A/C controls, do you have the fluorescent display and pushbuttons, or the set of three twist ***** ?) I'm assuming it'* the electronic type...

Yes, I have the Electronic Climate Control... It is flashing also. Something that I forgot to mention. I had one of the OBD II scanners, but my 95 wasn't OBD II compliant, soooo, I hooked it up anyways and it didn't tell me anything.

I would appreciate the dash removal instructions from anyone. I think I want to try the air-mix door first.

I would get the error code out before you go breaking into things. The blinking temperature display means that it'* trying to tell you something.

If it'* not OBD II-compliant, can't you just get the error code out by manipulating the buttons on the control panel? (e.g. Hold down both OFF and TEMPERATURE-UP buttons while turning on the ignition, or something like that?) (i.e. I doubt that is the correct procedure for the '95 cars, but I'm just trying to give an example here.)

Absolutely get the code from the climate control before you do anything. The procedure in Techinfo is only proven to work on 1994 and below... I need a 95 service manual to know how to do the 95-99 models.
